May 5th ~ Kindergarten Connection

We can play Shape Race to 20. This game teaches us how to count on, add and compare sums.
We can represent teen numbers as a group of ten and some more. We can write addition equations to match our work on double team frames.

We can count to 100 by 1's, 5, and 10's!
We had so much fun putting 100 chart puzzles together. We noticed that it's helpful to think about numbers that come before and after and to recognize number patterns in order to solve puzzles quickly.

We can play Coin Race to 10. This game taught us about coin names and values. It also  helped us grow our understanding of probability as we used different spinners to play the same game.

We used iPads to construct shapes on grids.
This work helped us name shapes and compare and contrast different shape attributes.

Taste Test
We learned all about our sense of taste and identified the areas of our tongues that taste sweet, salty, bitter and sour.

Writing in our 5 Senses Journals

We learned how to sign our names. We agreed that this alphabet is a wonderful tool for people who can't hear or talk.
We took a close look at the braille alphabet and agreed that it's a wonderful tool for people who do not have their sense of sight.

8th Grade Buddies

May Calendars
We can for all of our numbers the kindergarten way!

Word Woman flew in to teach us the word and.
We discovered that knowing this word helps us read other words like: sand, hand, band, stand, land,
brand, grand, candy, handy, stand.

We wrote our own morning messages and focused on beginning sentences with uppercase letters
and ending with punctuation marks.

We are feeling proud of our writing and very ready for first grade!
We are working on opinion and persuasive writing.
We learned that writers can write to make the world a better place.
1. Think about a problem. 2. Think about how this problem could be solved by writing. 3. Write!
"Do not cut in line because you can make the person in front of you hurt."
"1. Do not leave markers without caps. 2. The markers will dry out. 3. Please share the markers."
Toys
"We have to share. If we don't share, nobody gets it."
"Don't cut in line because we could get hurt in the hall if we don't have a teacher."
"Don't push in line because someone can get hurt."
"Do not pull in music"
