Writing in Science
We are learning how to write to document our understanding and to teach others.
Take a peek at our science journals to learn all about seeds and growing plants. |
We investigated to seeds to observed their parts before planting them in soil. |
We can diagram, label and explain how to plant seeds. We know that seeds need soil, sun, water and air to live. |
We read Eric Carl's book The Tiny Seed and were inspired to paint textured paper to help us represent the different parts of a flower. |
We can make a word mean more than one by adding an s to the end of the word. We know that sometimes the /z/ sound tries to trick us at the end of words, but we can't be fooled anymore! |
We are CVC word experts! We know how to tap words and to listen closely for short vowel sounds. |
We can compose shapes with pattern blocks. |
We can name shapes and talk about how they are the same and different from other shapes. |
We can compose shapes on geo-boards with rubber bands. The pegs help us organize our building plans and talk about our shapes. |
We can play Capture the Number to practice naming numerals and talk about numbers that come just before and just after. |
We can read and match numerals 1-50! |
We can count on to solve addition problems. |
We love to write in kindergarten! The writing center is filled with writing prompts to choose from. As of late, we like to write about spring activities, family and pets. |
We learned how to draw shapes to help us draw realistic self portraits. |
Building our Reading Stamina for First Grade We love to read! We can read independently for 15 minutes! Yeah! |
