kindergarten Connection ~ May 6th

Kindergarten Connection
We are learning all about seeds!
We dissected lima beans to observe the different parts of a seed.
We discovered the seed coat, food storage, and  plant embryo.

Science Journals
We are learning how to write like scientists. We use diagrams, labels and content specific vocabulary in our writing. Our science journals help us document our questions, observations and new learning.

We are wondering what seeds need to grow and thrive. We did an experiment to see if seeds could grow without soil.

We have a giant breathing ball! We had fun passing it around the Morning Meeting circle.
Morning Message
Our message time serves as a wonderful opportunity to practice and learn literacy skills.
We are learning more about vowel teams, ending spelling patterns, and reading punctuation.
May Calendars

Fun with rainbow tiles!

We know that -ay at the end of a word makes the long a sound. Knowing this spelling pattern helps us read other words like play, hay, way, stay...

We know that seeds need soil, water, air lots of time to grow.
Planting Seeds

Ask your children to teach you the hand motions that go along with this poem. We  performed this poem for the school at our CCS Arbor Day celebration.
We document everything we do with seeds and plants in our journals.

Happy Spring!
